Bookshelf Reading Challenge

Me? Join a reading challenge? I must be out of my mind, right? But I did and I'm really happy about it. I’ve been so swamped lately (it started late last year, actually). Time certainly has not been my friend and my TBR from review requests didn't move for a while. Life happens and there’s nothing you (or I) can do but go with the flow... even if it means not looking at your TBR list and bookshelf for a long period of time. *sigh*

Anyway, I’m doing my best to get back on track so I know my TBR will be moving along soon. I feel so good just thinking about this fact. Been so depressed not being able to join and experience other wonderful worlds created by such talented authors out there.

So, why join a reading challenge if I still have a lot on my TBR? Well let me tell you more about the challenge. This reading challenge is hosted by Nette of Nette’s Bookshelf. The concept is to finally decide to read books that are already on our bookshelves. I know you lovely readers can relate to me when I say that there are books on our bookshelves that are just there. You want to read them but for some reason, they are left untouched and to quote Nette, “collecting dust”. It's not because of the book though. It's not you. It's me. And in this case, I totally believe me. HAHA. Yes, I love to read books but of course, life happens and sometimes all you can do is to buy books even though you can't read them yet. That’s not bad, right? Is there such a thing as book gluttony? I don’t think so. But if there is, I'm guilty. HAHA. So, for this challenge, I can choose which books to read and how many of them I want to include. I can also combine bookshelves – physical and virtual.

The best part of this challenge, I think (aside from the obvious fact that I will get to read some of the books I've purchased), is the time frame: September 2013 to January 2014. Since I have control over the number of books I can include, I know I can budget my time well enough.

The hardest part of this challenge, I guess, is choosing which books to read because I want to read them all. Anyway, after several hours and days staring at my bookshelf and Kindle shelf, I finally decided to choose 7 books4 paperbacks and 3 Kindle editions. :) So for the coming months, I will be posting reviews of books from this challenge and the ones from my TBR (review requests). Isn’t it cool? Lady on a mission here! :)

Here are the books that I've chosen to read for this challenge:

Paperback
The Wedding by Nicholas Sparks
The Selection by Kiera Cass
Chocolate Shoes and Wedding Blues by Trisha Ashley
The Fault in our Stars by John Green

Kindle edition
Death by Drowning by Abigail Keam
Pretty Amy by Lisa Burstein
In Silence by Erica Spindler

I am so proud of myself for having the courage to participate in this kind of challenge. How about you? You should totally join, too! If you want to know more about this challenge, please click the reading challenge image above. :)
