Anna and the French Kiss Book Review

I understood what the hype was all about on this one. I loved it and I can’t wait to read more books from Stephanie Perkins. – Ara of My Book and My Coffee

I’ve completed this review but wasn’t able to post it. Been busy the past few months. Went on vacation and had no time to blog. :(

The story is about Anna and her experience in a new country. It’s her senior year and she thought she will continue her education in Atlanta but then her father decided to send her to a boarding school in Paris. For her age, yes, I understand that this can be devastating, and maybe a little scary. But personally, I will be thrilled if my father sent me there. LOL. Bring it on, Paris!

So, the story revolved around Anna and her experience in her new school, meeting new friends and of course, meeting a boy. The boy. Etienne. The author has described this character rather well.

I was in Paris once so I really enjoyed reading this book. It reminded me of the places there.

I loved the ending because it reminded me of something that I already know. It’s the real definition of ‘home’.

The story is sweet, funny, romantic and very exciting. Definitely something to include in your reading list if you haven’t done so already.

Thanks for reading!

Waking the Dead by D.B. Sieders Release Day

It's amazing how good 2017 to us so far, fellow book readers. Here's another interesting book released today! Take a look at Waking the Dead by D.B. Sieders! Don't forget to enter the giveaway below, too!

The road to hell begins when the reaper darkens her door.

A chance encounter with a dying stranger opens an empathic connection between down-on-her-luck caregiver Vivian Bedford and the world of spirits. Lazarus Darkmore, a grim reaper in a charming and seductive package, seeks to recruit her as a soul broker. Guardian spirit Ezra and his new apprentice Zeke offer protection from the reaper--so long as she works on their side of afterlife management. But these guardians are no angels, and their methods leave Vivian fearing the price of their protection.

Her ability to channel conscious energy from the living, something no guardian or reaper can do, could be a game changer. If she can control it, she can use this power as leverage. And she needs a bargaining chip, especially when she discovers that incapacitated living mortals can supply energy for the spirit realm, making her disabled sister Mae a prime target for guardian and reaper alike.

Can she move from pawn to major player in order to save Mae, and herself, from a horrific fate beyond the simple and fleeting terrors of death?

About the Author:

I was born and raised in East Tennessee and spent my childhood hiking in the Great Smoky Mountains, wading barefoot in creeks, chasing salamanders, fish, and frogs. We loved to tell stories while sitting around the campfire.

Those days of frog chasing sparked my interest in biology. I am a working scientist by day, but I never lost my love of telling stories.

I write contemporary fantasy, fantasy romance, and contemporary romance. My stories feature unlikely heroes and heroines who face a healthy dose of angst as they strive for redemption and a happily ever after, which everyone deserves. I live in Nashville, Tennessee with my husband, two children, three cats, and my very active imagination.

Back to You by CJ Miranda
Contemporary Romance
Amazon | Books2Read

There's a new book in town - did you hear? Check out CJ Miranda's contemporary romance novel, Back to You.

Four years later, she's home. And there's a storm awaiting her.

Four years after the most confusing summer of her life, recent college graduate Iris Tilley is moving back home with no idea of the repercussions waiting to greet her. Going home means reconnecting with her dad, facing her motherless home, and confronting her gorgeous neighbor, Weston Alcorn.

And all of this, unfortunately, has to be done in a small southern town where gossip is a prized currency.

As the summer forges on, Iris struggles to find her place in a town that’s changed as much as it’s stayed the same, and it doesn’t help that Weston doesn’t seem to know how to treat her. Through awkward encounters, tense conversations, and heartbreaking revelations, neither Weston nor Iris can ignore the spark they ignited four years prior. But as Iris's past and the prospect of her future violently clash, it's no longer a question of can they ignore it, but will they have the chance?

About the Author:

CJ Miranda is a twenty-three year old LSU graduate with a romantic side she’s never shown to the people in her life. Having grown up quiet, shy, and incredibly sarcastic in a small town she never felt a part of, CJ spent her spare time writing multiple romance novels that she posted for free online. Having done that since she was thirteen, she now feels that it’s time to pursue what has always been her dream.

When she’s not writing or reading, she’s either working at her day job or drinking wine with her best friend/roommate and laughing at whatever their diva dogs are doing.

Title: Dead Run
Author: Erica Spindler
Mystery & Suspense
Form: Hardcover

Book Description: Dead Run

Dead Run by Erica Spindler
Paperback | Hardcover | Kindle edition

"I'm in trouble, Liz. I've uncovered something.… They're watching.…"

That panicked message on her answering machine is the last time Liz Ames hears from her sister Rachel, pastor of Paradise Christian Church in Key West, Florida.

Compelled to uncover the truth about her sister's disappearance, she heads to Key West. Within hours of her arrival a successful banker jumps to his death. Then a teenage girl whom Rachel was counseling is found brutally murdered. The ritualistic style of the killing is hauntingly similar to that used by the notorious "New Testament" serial killer—now on death row.

Could the teen's murder be related to Rachel's disappearance? Is a copycat killer at work? And why do the police refuse to help?

For answers, Liz turns to Rick Wells, a former Miami cop who worked the fringes of the "New Testament" investigation. Together they peel away layers of deception to reveal a terrifying adversary—and the unspeakable evil at the heart of this island paradise.

Dead Run ~ Book Review

This is a wonderful read, truly. Erica Spindler is one of my favorite authors. Great ending for this story and I couldn’t ask for more. – Ara of My Book and My Coffee

A pastor missing. A sister ready to know what really happened. An ex-cop with a quintessential Key West bar. And the Paradise of Christian Church in Key West. These are the only things you need to know to get really interested with this book.

I love the characters except for the ‘nasty’ ones – although they are very effective. Especially the two nasty ones that you will discover in the last few chapters. I love that the author was able to surprise me with these two.

Liz Ames is the sister, ready to know what really happened. After her sister went missing, no leads but some BS thing that the police came up with, she decided to move to Key West and try and prove what she’s been feeling – that her sister didn’t have a breakdown and just ran off. Not her sister, the most stable person she knows.

Aside from the above aspect of the story, there will be other storylines that will prove to be connected to what / who Liz is looking for.

There’s also a romantic path here so be ready to feel a lot of emotions.

The ending is sweet and just right. I couldn’t have asked for more.

Thanks for reading!
