My Book and My Coffee

Long time, no reading? Life happens. Life goes on though.

I'm happy to go back to reading again!

Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins
Kindle | Hardcover | Paperback

Anna can't wait for her senior year in Atlanta, where she has a good job, a loyal best friend, and a crush on the verge of becoming more. So she's not too thrilled when her father unexpectedly ships her off to boarding school in Paris - until she meets Etienne St. Clair, the perfect boy. The only problem? He's taken, and Anna might be, too, if anything comes of her crush back home. Will a year of romantic near-misses end in the French kiss Anna awaits?

Super excited with this one. I have the Kindle version so I can read anywhere! :)

Title: Dead Run
Author: Erica Spindler
Mystery & Suspense
Form: Hardcover

Book Description: Dead Run

Dead Run by Erica Spindler
Paperback | Hardcover | Kindle edition

"I'm in trouble, Liz. I've uncovered something.… They're watching.…"

That panicked message on her answering machine is the last time Liz Ames hears from her sister Rachel, pastor of Paradise Christian Church in Key West, Florida.

Compelled to uncover the truth about her sister's disappearance, she heads to Key West. Within hours of her arrival a successful banker jumps to his death. Then a teenage girl whom Rachel was counseling is found brutally murdered. The ritualistic style of the killing is hauntingly similar to that used by the notorious "New Testament" serial killer—now on death row.

Could the teen's murder be related to Rachel's disappearance? Is a copycat killer at work? And why do the police refuse to help?

For answers, Liz turns to Rick Wells, a former Miami cop who worked the fringes of the "New Testament" investigation. Together they peel away layers of deception to reveal a terrifying adversary—and the unspeakable evil at the heart of this island paradise.

Dead Run ~ Book Review

This is a wonderful read, truly. Erica Spindler is one of my favorite authors. Great ending for this story and I couldn’t ask for more. – Ara of My Book and My Coffee

A pastor missing. A sister ready to know what really happened. An ex-cop with a quintessential Key West bar. And the Paradise of Christian Church in Key West. These are the only things you need to know to get really interested with this book.

I love the characters except for the ‘nasty’ ones – although they are very effective. Especially the two nasty ones that you will discover in the last few chapters. I love that the author was able to surprise me with these two.

Liz Ames is the sister, ready to know what really happened. After her sister went missing, no leads but some BS thing that the police came up with, she decided to move to Key West and try and prove what she’s been feeling – that her sister didn’t have a breakdown and just ran off. Not her sister, the most stable person she knows.

Aside from the above aspect of the story, there will be other storylines that will prove to be connected to what / who Liz is looking for.

There’s also a romantic path here so be ready to feel a lot of emotions.

The ending is sweet and just right. I couldn’t have asked for more.

Thanks for reading!

Romance, Western Romance
Buy now: Amazon Kindle | Paperback

Indiana Bernstein lives life in the fast lane…

Even when her famous father died in a racecar crash when she was fifteen, Indiana still dreamt of becoming a driver herself—but the terms of her father’s will required she finished college before claiming her inheritance. Putting her love of speed to good use, Indiana finished college by eighteen and pursued her goals…which also included superstar driver Richard Sand.

Richard Sand’s career meant everything to him…

A favorite of the fans and surrounded by beautiful women, Richard knew any hint of involvement with an underage girl would ruin him, and he was determined to stay away from fifteen year old Indiana, despite her obvious interest. But when she turned eighteen, there was no longer any reason to deny their attraction.

Their relationship is shattered when Richard’s past catches up to him…

When Richard receives devastating news, it appears there is no chance of a happily-ever-after with Indiana, who kicks her dedication to the racing circuit into high gear and tries to outrun her pain.

Then Indiana’s own career takes a turn for the worse, and she must learn whether there’s a future for her anywhere other than in the cockpit of a racecar.

Can Indiana find a way back to Richard and be the supportive woman he needs?

The road ahead is far from easy…but the victory is sweet if you’re bold enough to take the risk on a fast man and a fast love.
